Reaction to the websites

After reading about this event in history, I was troubled not only by the fact that this kind of thing was withheld from public knowledge back when it happened but also by the fact that many people still don't know about it today. We learn about the injustices that happened in other country's during WWII and talk about the "brainwashing" that country's like Germany used but we don't realize how it has happened in our own country, and often we are still not doing anything about it. From the reading I got the impression that the original intention of the US to evacuate the Aleutians was somewhat good. Atleast it sounded good to try and prevent them from being under Japanese control which could have made them prisoners of war but really what the government did might have been worse than what they would have experienced otherwise. They were taken from their homes and subjected to bad living conditions and not given the opportunity to help themselves. I was astonished by the fact that many of them continued to be patriotic despite what had happened and was happening to their people. Some of them even joined the armed forces to help fight the Japanese. I guess in the end they were still fighting for their homes so they could return to better conditions even if they had to align themselves with the people who weren't treating them very well.
