Pree-Reading for Aleutian Sparrow

I am sad to say that prior to hearing of it in class, I knew nothing of the plight of the Aleutian people during World War two. I don't understand why such little is taught about this event in schools. I knew absolutely nothing about the Aleutian people until I researched them online. I learned about the plight of Japanese Americans while they were forced into internment camps during World War two but I was never even taught that the Aleutian islands were even invaded by the Japanese. I don't understand why this event has been left out of the history books but I defiantly plan on teaching my students about this shameful period in American history.
